Correct installation starts with the machine manual and the markings on the blade. The procedure below applies to common diamond saw blade setups, but the machine manufacturer’s instructions and local safety rules take priority.
Switch the machine off, disconnect its power source and wait for the spindle to stop completely. Wear suitable eye, hand, hearing and respiratory protection for the job.
Check diameter, arbor size, maximum RPM, cutting direction, wet or dry rating and approved material. The blade’s maximum speed must be equal to or higher than the machine speed. Do not alter the arbor hole to make a blade fit.
Reject a blade with a cracked core, missing segment, damaged arbor or visible distortion. Check the guard, spindle, bearings and power cable. A blade cannot correct a machine with excessive play or damaged flanges.
Remove slurry, rust and trapped particles from both flanges and the spindle. The blade should sit flat against the inner flange. Use only the flange and reduction ring arrangement approved for the machine.
Align the rotation arrow on the blade with the direction of the spindle. Some continuous-rim products may not carry an arrow; in that case follow the product instructions rather than assuming.
Hold the spindle with the proper lock and tighten the fastener to the machine maker’s torque or method. Over-tightening can distort components. Refit and adjust the guard before reconnecting power.
Stand clear of the cutting plane and run the machine briefly in a safe area. Stop immediately if the blade wobbles, rubs the guard or produces unusual vibration. Isolate the power again before making any adjustment.
Bring the blade to operating speed before it meets the material. Use steady, moderate feed and avoid twisting the blade in the kerf. For wet cutting, verify that water reaches both sides of the rim before the cut.
Recheck the assembly after the first controlled cut and whenever the sound or feel changes. Record the blade, material and machine combination when repeatable production matters.
Stop-use conditions: cracks, lost segments, a bent core, a damaged arbor, persistent wobble or speed incompatibility require removal from service.
